Radon is a naturally-occurring gas. It's no cause for alarm normal levels. But radon can become trapped and build up quickly, so it's important to test your radon levels every 18-28 months.

Radon can be found in household items, such as stone features ad granite countertops, and can be released from water into the air during showering or doing laundry.

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer—even in non-smokers.

Only smoking causes more lung cancer deaths than elevated exposure to radon.

Radon gas enters homes and buildings through cracks and holes in the foundation, as well as through added materials, such as granite countertops. Radon can become trapped and eventually build up to hazardous levels.

Hi, I'm April Leslie,

the founder of RVA Radon.

In 2016, I became a certified radon measurement specialist. But radon testing is about much more than a career to me.


Respiratory awareness has always been a priority in my family. With a history of asthma and other lung issues, it was important to understand the root of these issues. Further, my mother, who is a non-smoker, developed additional respiratory issues, and eventually had a portion of her lungs removed. 


As a result of these experiences, I created RVA Radon to raise awareness to protect against elevated radon levels.
